SPELLING & VOCABULARY

The development of Spelling and Vocabulary may have different methods of attainment and mastery, but methods tend to lend into one another.  The focus on affixes and word origins helps to develop both of these crucial areas of writing (and negates the argument that spelling is no longer important!). Working on the parts of a word (affixes and root words) not only helps expand vocabulary, but establishes spelling patterns to make more difficult words easier to spell.
